about

Unprovenienced Late Classic Period (AD 600-850) mold-made Maya effigy whistle featuring a high-status standing woman wearing a large headdress, earspools, and refined clothing/jewelry. This aerophone was hypothetically looted in the Jaina Island, Campeche (Mexico), and was formerly part of a private collection donated to the Art & History Museum in 2012.
Pitch variations are obtained by partially reducing/modifying the aperture size by moving the thumbs inwards & outwards.

Overall dimensions (height x width x depth): 25.38 x 11.74 x 8.57 (cm).
